Can type 2 diabetes cause morning nose bleeds? If so what can we do ?
My husband is 68 yrs. old, and was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2001 and has NEVER had a nose bleed until a few days ago. It doesn’t bleed excessively. Maybe for a few minutes then it stops. We called his Dr., but they have to check it out first. So I was wondering if someone could give me some Professional info on what is causing these nose bleeds and what we could do in the mean time. He has to see his Dr. March 5. THANK YOU. We really would appreciate your help.
The most common causes of nosebleeds are: dry air in your house which can be cured by use of a humidifier in the bedroom where you sleep; high blood pressure; and taking blood thinners and your blood is now too thin according to your protime (blood test). Placing a little bacitracin into the nostril where the bleeding has occurred helps to keep the area moist.

Does trans-fat cause type 2 diabetes?
As trans fat in foods is wide could it be why type 2 diabetes is on the increase. Please give root cause of insulin resistance if not the above as I have right to eat the correct fats (EFA) rather than man made one. Give me a list of oils that are cis-isomer and non-hydrogenated. I truly believe that type 2 diabetes can be reversed (eating the way God/nature intended) and be healed completely of condition. Will going organic and trans-fat free make a difference as before trans fat existed who had type 2 diabetes?
Mr Peachy…im ok and totally agree with your last comment. I rang diabetes uk and got into argument with them over the fact that diabetes can be reversed. And last night asked myself where in Africa where they eat plenty of natural carbs are people 20, 50 or 100 stones in weight. For too long type 2 diabetic believe anything and go with flow but not me. Chicken and chips which children are now eating everyday are being fried and processed in trans fat. when i was 8…30 years ago my mum cooked me a proper meal. Children of today are being fed processed food everyday and getting type 2 diabetes. Where in Africa are children obese? What you said all makes sense as a dr called Grabriel Cousens recently put a T1 on a raw foods vegan eating plan for 30 days and he was healed of diabetes. He was a T1. And from what I gather type 1 develop it in childhood and now more and more adults are getting type 1…interesting?
It’s a little more complicated than that, but you’re on the right track.

In response to the answer below. To say what she’s saying is totally ignorant of the facts. Food absolutely causes type two diabetes. All one has to do is look at the Pima Indians. When they were introduced to the typical western diet of high carb processed and refined foods w/o the necessary nutrients found in natural foods, the incidence of type two diabetes skyrocketed. They’re at something like 49% today. Modern medicine (and sue) still don’t get it. IT’S THE FOOD. I’m living proof. Since adopting a natural foods diet, my insulin resistance has gone down and I no longer need medication. Fat buildup in the cell walls is part of the equation, and lack of proper nutrients to facilitate the transfer of insulin and glucose into the cell walls is the the other part. This isn’t rocket science, it’s common sense that is all but gone these days.
what exactly is the difference between type1 and type 2 diabetes and what effect do they have on some one?
i was jus curious on the difference between type 1 and 2 diabetes and the effects cause the internet has all these medical answers i juss want a simple answer..thanx
Type 2 can be treated with proper diet, medication, and exercise, because your body produces some insulin.
Type 1 can only be treated with insulin injections because your pancreas does not produce any insulin at all. ————————
Can type 2 diabetes cause you to have a stroke?
Indirectly. Diabetes Mellitus (type 1 OR type 2) is a major risk factor in atherosclerosis (which is damage to blood vessels). Blockages can develop in the arteries in the brain and stroke can occur. If you keep the blood sugar levels under good control, watch your diet, keep your cholesterol and blood pressure down, exercise, and avoid tobacco in any form, you can substantially reduce your risk of stroke with diabetes.
my daughter is pregnant she has 2 possible men her blood type is ab+ one man is b+ can these 2 types cause rh-?
she just got a call from her dr and they said she had to come in for a shot because her blood type is ab+ and she has rh- i think it is – but i was wondering if the one mans blood beieng b+ could cause this
she’d only have to get the shot if her blood type was negative.
type 2 diabetes caused by taking atenolol, should I be coming off this drug?
been on atenolol for a few yrs now, had a mild MI almost 2 yrs ago, had high BP before MI. Now worried about the diabetes scare
You really should address this to your cardiologist, if you have questions about your medications. However, there isn’t any correlation between your Atenolol and Type 2 diabetes. The Atenolol is a beta blocker, used to control the heart rate, prevent angina and lower blood pressure. Since you already had one MI, you already know you have coronary problems, and high blood pressure will kill you a lot faster than the Type 2 diabetes will. You can control and possibly eliminate the diabetes by watching your diet, eating right, losing weight and exercising. None of which would hurt the situation with your heart either, by the way. I also don’t suggest you get a wild hair and just quit taking the Atenolol either, since that can bring on heart attack number 2. Your diabetes is more likely due to some genetic predisposition, compounded by your lifestyle and diet. Change those, and you might be able to control or get rid of the diabetes. Get rid of the Atenolol and they may well be getting rid of you in a pine box. And don’t make your medication decisions based on polls taken here at YA, where everybody and anybody – trained and not, can type in an answer. It’s a lot smarter to talk to the cardiologist you hired to keep you alive a bit longer. He did go to school a long time to have the expertise, and you are paying him a lot for that opinion.
Nick Jonas Type 1? and Type 2?
i need to know the difference between type 1 that nick Jonas has and type 2!
cause my family has a big history of diabetes!
and im at a HIGH HIGH risk! like any min i could get it!
but im confused between the two!
Type 1 is the kind you get diagnosed with when you’re young,
Type 2 is the kind when you get diagnosed in your older age.
Type 1:With this form of diabetes, the beta cells of the pancreas no longer make insulin because the body’s immune system has attacked and destroyed them.
Type 2: Usually begins with insulin resistance, a condition in which fat, muscle, and liver cells do not use insulin properly. At first, the pancreas keeps up with the added demand by producing more insulin. In time, however, it loses the ability to secrete enough insulin in response to meals. Being overweight and inactive increases the chances of developing type 2 diabetes.

can type 2 cause a symtom of unbearable skin itching?
also has live disease
All diabetics are susceptible to skin problems. Fungal and bacterial. After each shower I finely mist vinegar all over my body . It really cuts down on fungal infections I use to have. And yes I smell like a salad for a few minutes. But well worth it.
Why do healthy people get Type 2 diabetes? How is this caused?
I’ve seen a few type 2’s that have a healthy diet, are fine in weight etc. How did they get Type 2 diabetes?
Well there are some theories about it.
For most type 2’s, there is usually a genetic tendency in their family to be predisposed to diabetes. However, you can also have pancreatic damage through viruses, surgery and other events.
Type 2 diabetes is NOT caused by weight gain. Its caused by increased insulin resistance. In most type 2’s, insulin resistance itself contributes to weight gain and rising blood sugar, which in turn aggravates the insulin resistance. This leads to a viscous cycle of weight gain, and increasing blood sugar and worsening insulin resistance. This is why most type 2’s are overweight.
They can diet and exercise and still not be able to lose much weight, because their insulin, pancreas and cells just don’t work together optimally. And they put the weight back on very quickly, and more besides.
Eventually, this leads to the pancreas burning out and being unable to produce enough insulin, and in fact can eventually stop producing insulin altogether. This is called insulin dependent type 2. If your body can’t make enough insulin for its needs, (even if it can still make some), it still isn’t enough for good blood sugar control. At this point you have to start injecting insulin, just like a type 1 does.
Some type 2’s are lucky and don’t have the weight gain, but start making less insulin than their body needs, and their blood sugar rises. This is more similar to type 1 diabetes but it happens slowly, not quickly, like type 1. (Sometimes this is called type 1.5, but its not a correct medical term). It can be caused by a virus attacking the pancreas, or some other trauma to the pancreas, such as surgery, or it can even be induced by medications such as beta blockers, etc.
Another reason some type 2s do not gain weight is because they "spill sugar". Their blood sugar is too high and the kidney’s spill the excess sugar in the urine. This is very unhealthy, and damages the kidneys. It also leads to nerve damage and circulation problems.
Type 2 diabetes is usually about insulin resistance and the subsequent weight gain, but can also be caused by reduced insulin production.
Sometimes type 2 comes on because an older person’s pancreas just gets worn out as they age, (usually in their 70’s, 80’s, or even their 90’s.
Another possible factor is faulty insulin. You might produce enough insulin, but it may not work very well, leading to overproduction, insulin resistance, weight gain (or not, if you spill enough sugar) and rising blood sugar.
Type 2 diabetes is not studied nearly as much as type 1, even though type 2 makes up around 80% of the cases. Its not a popular topic, and doesn’t seem to be as well understood.
There are a lot of misconceptions about type 2 being caused by weight gain, but we now know that insulin resistance and faulty insulin production are responsible for rising blood sugar AND weight gain.
