How does sugar cause type 2 diabetes????????
I don’t get it, so much info on it sounds contradictory.
Like sugar is bad, but fruit is good?
Isn’t fruit high sugar?
I know it is fructose not glucose, but still…
Can anyone explain?
No, no, no.
Please do not blame it on sugar because almost everything you eat will turn into the same thing by your body – glucose.
Your body will not be able to recognize whether the glucose came from a chocolate bar, a watermelon slice or a bowl of rice.
It is just that in diabetics, the body is either not producing enough insulin, not producing insulin at all or is resisting the insulin – resulting in poor regulation of blood glucose and throwing your system out of whack.
So, you have to control the amount of glucose that ends up in your bloodstream, and this is through careful regulation your intake of simple sugars and complex carbohydrates.
BTW, different fruits have different glycemic levels in them.
Type 2 diabetes vs. gestational.?
My 3 hour glucose test came back abnormal. My fasting glucose was 104. The next one was 183 then 187 then 177. Dr. says this is consistent with type 2. Or is it gestational?? I’m worried. I’ve read type 2 causes stillbirths…….please help!
Duh, I should’ve said Im 9 weeks pregnant…
I had gestational diabetes with my first and he was fine! I am now pregnant with my 2nd and am worried to have gestational diabetes again. Just for the fact that I have to monitor what I eat and watch my levels.
If your dr. gives you instructions on what to eat and how to take care of yourself you should be fine and the diabetes will go away after you give birth to your baby. Mine did.
good LUck
Is this eye problem part of having type 2 diabetes?
Lately I have been getting sharp pains that feel like they’re coming from the inside of my eye, or like from my top eyelid. The pain lasts for about 10 minutes, my eye twitches uncontrollably, then after 10 minutes it’s just fine.
Is this caused by having type 2 diabetes? Is it stress? or could it be something else?
I do follow my diet very strictly now, but I do not take the pills the same time every day .. I will start doing that as well
Yes this can be part of your type 2 diabetes and I have the sharp pains as well. I wonder if you are taking your medications on time, the same time every day and are you careful to follow the Diabetic Diet so you do not eat to many carbs or sugars? If you don’t eat right you will continue to have these and more serious problems. Could cause you to go blind if you don’t take it all seriously. Be good to yourself.
What about dry skin and it’s relation to type 2 diabetes?
If one has type 2 diabetes will it cause dry skin problems?
What can one do to prevent mosquitos from biting and if bitten what can one use to prevent itching?
Although there is no direct connection on having dry skin and diabetes, there are a number of skin problems that can be associated with the disease. People with diabetes are more than twice likely to have fungal skin infections than those that are not diabetic. The number one reason is that fungi and bacteria would love to feed on skins with high glucose.
For mosquito problems, you can use insect-repelling creams and once bitten, use anti-inching creams(available in your local drugstores).
Does eating too much sugar really cause type 1 and type 2 diabetes?
Ive heard from some sources it does and from some that it doesnt.
Yes it does. Especially if you are a poor exerciser, you will increase your risk.
Also genetics is a big part of it. If your past family has had it before, you have a higher risk of getting it. It can be prevented though by eating right, and exercising more.
What is the cause of type 2 Diabetes?
I am looking for information on a scientific study that proves the cause.
I am not looking for someones opinion.

I am not looking for the cure.
I am looking for the actual cause
I would like the url of the scientific study that proves your answer.
Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. In type 2 diabetes, either the body does not produce enough insulin or the cells ignore the insulin.
Usually occurs gradually. Most people with type 2 diabetes are overweight at the time of diagnosis. However, the disease can also develop in lean people, especially the elderly.
Genetics play a large role in type 2 diabetes and family history is a risk factor. However, low activity level, poor diet, and excess body weight (especially around the waist) significantly increase your risk for type 2 diabetes.
Other risk factors include:
- Race/ethnicity (African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, and Native Americans all have high rates of diabetes)
- Age greater than 45 years
- Previously identified impaired glucose tolerance by your doctor
- High blood pressure
- HDL cholesterol of less than 35 or triglyceride level of greater than 250
- History of gestational diabetes

Can type 2 diabetes cause urinary incontinence?
For those who don’t know what that is, it basically means peeing your pants.
Diabetes causes neuropathy. This means that nerve cells/fibres are destroyed and therefore fail to work. This would lead to loss of control of the nerve specific muscle/organ. So yes, diabetes causes neuropathy which, if the bladder nerves are affected, can cause incontinence.
Does Type 2 Diabetes cause excessive perspiration?
We hired a new employee and he has type 2 diabetes. He perspires excessively and I believe, due to the sweating, he smells. As his superior, I need to confront him about the smell because one of our clients has now commented about it. However, I would like to know if the smell/perspiration is related to his medical condition.
It could. His blood sugar going low could cause him to perspire. His blood sugar going high can cause DKA, which would make him smell bad. Or he could just have bad hygiene, or sweat excessively on his own…
how does adiposity causes type 2 diabetes?
Not sure there’s a 100% proven link ie cause and effect demonstrated between being overweight resulting in type 2. However a study on heavy drinkers, who suddenly gave up, sent their blood pressure haywire which was accompanied by the devlopment of type 2. There may therefore be a similar link between eight and trype 2, once a certain blood pressure point is passed it may encoyrage/ cause type 2. Standard advice with type 2 is control is maintained by looking after blood pressure.
